Located in Lagunas, it is a 12 minute drive from Dominical. A 4x4 vehicle is required to get to this resort.
On any given day there are more than 30 plus different species of birds including, parrots, tucans, turkeys, and the Great Kiskadee seen above that lives beside the resort pool and often takes dips during the day. There have also been deer, sloths, capybaras, monkeys, and iguanas spotted by us on the resort grounds.
To your destination, it is a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from the San Jose airport. We however recommend staying a night in San Jose and getting the 17 minute flight from San Jose to Quepos airports. It is an adventure in itself, flying over mountains and beside the ocean to land in the jungle. Above is the landing strip at Quepos airport.

Born in Vancouver, she spent her early years kayaking and hiking on the West Coast, where she also prepared gourmet meals for trekking groups. She later continued strengthening her culinary skills through courses in pastry, canning, Thai, Indian, sushi, and desserts. After moving to Peterborough, Ontario, Alison raised her family and worked as a Psychotherapist and Art Therapist for over 25 years, staying active in her community by hosting and cooking retreats and treks, and by catering private events. Her other passion is travel and cultural immersion. Having lived abroad and learned about local land, food, and people, she planned a change in location to a community where she could continue counselling and immediately fell in love with Costa Rica and Lagunas, now making it her new paradise.
Adam is a retired CPA, who grew up in the Peterborough, Ontario area in Canada. For the last 30 years he has also been in the residential rental business. He spent the last 5 winters in Florida with his father until he passed. discovering he wanted to travel and see Costa Rica he fell in love with the area and the Lagunas Sunshine resort. As he says "it's the most beautiful place in the world".
Our team at Lagunas Sunshine is made up of a local grounds crew for maintaining the property, a pool technician, a team of local cleaners and cooks as well as a local handyman who assists in any day to day issues.
